Lee Schreiner ('75) can rightfully be called Urbana University's soccer pioneer. He was the first out-of-state student recruited to play soccer at UU, played in the first-ever win by a Blue Knight soccer team in 1971 (a 5-0 blanking of Bluffton College), and was the first Blue Knight athlete in any sport to be named an AllAmerican.

Four times, Schreiner was named both All-Mid-Ohio Conference and All-NAIA District 22. He captained three Blue Knight teams and at the time of his induction held records in most goals scored in a single season (16), most goals scored in a career (53) and most assists in a career (33). He was the team's MVP in 1972 and three times was named the Best Offensive Player. In 1974 he played on the Ohio Collegiate All-Star Team.

During his stay at Urbana, Lee balanced his academic and athletic talents with a minor in the performance arts. He was named to Outstanding College Athletes in America (1971-72) and to Who's Who in College (1972-75).

Upon graduation he entered a career in teaching and coaching, which resulted in numerous awards and citations, namely being honored as Coach of the Year by the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association in 1979. His prep coaching stint resulted in over 200 victories and many conference, district and sectional championships. He led Grove City High School to a state runner-up finish. Schreiner also coached Ohio Olympic Development teams and for two years coached in Mexico and Europe. For two years, he served as an assistant coach for The Ohio State University soccer program. He is the first soccer play to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
