Hall of Fame
Boysel ('04) was a three-year starter at forward for the Blue Knights during the mid '70s. Under future UU Hall of Fame coach Bob Cawley, Boysel excelled on the court. As a senior, Boysel averaged better than 20 points per game to go along with nearly seven rebounds per contest. The 6'3" Greenon High School product led the team in shooting, knocking down nearly 55% of his attempts from the field. He ended his career fifth, and still remains 14th on Urbana's all-time scoring list with 1,419 points. After his playing career ended at Urbana, Boysel left for a full-time position at Grimes Manufacturing, where he has remained for 32 years. In 2002, Boysel returned to Urbana University, changed his major and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 2004.
"Brian was a great player who came up big in big games," remembers Ross. "We were impressed that he returned to UU to finish his degree in 2004, which also made him eligible for a Hall of Fame nomination."
