Jerry "J.J." White ('97) was the first Urbana University athlete to be named a 2-time NAIA All-American. The 2- year co-captain led the Blue Knight men's basketball team to the NAIA Division II National Tournament his senior year, averaging 16.6 points and 7.8 rebounds a game. He led the Blue Knights in scoring, rebounding, steals and 3-point percentage and helped the team to a national ranking as high as 7th in the country. His efforts earned him Mid-Ohio Conference Player of the Year honors, as well as being named an NAIA 1st Team All-American. Three times during his senior year he was honored as the MOC Player of the Week. With his great athletic ability, strength and shooting touch, White claimed the team scoring title for 3 consecutive seasons (1995-97).
He averaged a career-high 20.1 PPG during his junior campaign. The offensive explosion was recognized nationally as he was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
As a sophomore, White was named Honorable Mention All-Great Lakes Region and 2nd team All-Mid-Ohio Conference. He is the 7th all-time leading scorer in UU men's basketball history with 1,795 points.
Not only did White excel on the hardwood, but also in the classroom, averaging a 3.0 GPA throughout his 4-year career. Urbana University is pleased to induct Jerry "J.J" White as the 26th member of the Athletic Hall of Fame.
