Jerry Ligon ('94) graduated from Urbana University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology. Jerry was a part of the Blue Knight men's basketball team from 1990-94. He was the team's leading scorer when Urbana University made two NAIA National Championship appearances in 1992 and again in 1993. The Sweet Sixteen finish in 1992 was the best a Blue Knight team had done until the following year when they made it all the way to the Elite Eight. The 1993 team also won the Naismith-Liston Sportsmanship Award at the national tournament.
Jerry was a NAIA Men's Basketball All-American Third Team selection in Division I in 1994. He received honors as All-Mid Ohio Conference and All-District 22 twice. He is the career-scoring leader for the Blue Knights with 2,355 total points. Other highlights include: the single season record for steals (100) in 1992-93, career field goals (883) and games started 131/132 games.
Jerry's coach Bob Ronai was quoted in 1992 as saying," Jerry has tremendous athletic ability...he has the potential to become one of the top leading scorers for UU...we can depend on his hustle and leadership 100% of the time."
Jerry is the son of Gerald and Doris Ligon. Jerry and his wife Kristie live in Dayton where he works for Wyeth Pharmaceutical as a sales representative.
