FINDLAY, Ohio – The NCAA Division II men's golf season is underway as Urbana traveled to compete in the Ohio Cup, hosted by Findlay on Saturday.
Under first-year head coach
Rudy Evans,UU finished 10th out of 17 teams at the Red Hawk Run Golf Course with a team score of 614 over 36 holes. The Blue Knights posted 305 in the first round and 309 in the final round.
Freshman
Martin Trochu led the Blue Knights with a 73 in his first collegiate round. He closed his debut outing tied for 21st with an overall score of 150 (73-77). Sophomore
Luc Toupin also performed well in the opener and carded one stroke higher than Trochu with an overall score of 151 (74-77).
Rounding out the lineup was sophomore
Mack Cushman (79-78-157), senior
Kyle Glaser (89-77-166) and senior
Zach Petticrew (79-87-166).
Host Findlay won the team title by 30 strokes with an overall score of 558 (278-280). Tiffin (588), Cedarville (598), Ohio Dominican (601) and Northwestern Ohio (605) rounded out the top five teams.
Findlay's Caleb Westfall (138) defeated teammate Luke Kelly (139) by a stroke for low-medalist.
