Blue Knights Swim in Quad Meet at Malone

CANTON, Ohio - The Urbana University men's and women's swimming teams competed in a quad meet Friday night at Malone's C.T. Branin Natatorium. In the first event of 2017, Urbana went up against host Malone, Ashland, and Hillsdale.

Highlights from the Blue Knight men's squad included a pair of first-place finishes by Carl Henriksson in the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:51.14) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.13). Coleston Pope recorded a finals time of 2:06.99 in the 200 IM for a third place spot, while Dakota Lewis-Griggs also posted a third-place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 58.02. The UU men's 200 medley relay team compiled a second-place showing with a mark of 1:40.42.

On the women's side, Aerika Wieser recorded the fastest time in the 100 Free at 54.93 for a top-place finish. Wieser also came in second place in the 50 Free (25.14) behind Ashland's Julia Grady (25.12). In addition, Jennifer Schwartz recorded a finals time of 1:02.06 for third place in the 100 Fly. Then, the UU women's 200 freestyle relay team, with Schwartz, Wieser, Ashlynn Miller and Tiffany Howard, also posted a third-place finish with a time of 1:46.10.

The Blue Knights are back in action Saturday at Alderson Broaddus.
