Swim teams close out conference championship meet

CANTON, Ohio – Jaybreona Foster's 10th-place finish in the women's 200-yard breaststroke along with a pair of strong finishes in finals events by Jacob Voisinet highlighted the final day of action at the 2020 GMAC/MEC championships on Saturday at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

The men's and women's swimming teams each earned 181 points over the course of the four-day event with the women's team finishing in 11th place overall and the men finishing in the ninth position.

Hillsdale College (1691 points) won the team crown on the women's side while the University of Findlay (1559 points) took home top honors for the men.

Voisinet, who is a sophomore from Piqua, Ohio, tallied a 12-point performance in the 200-yard breaststroke finals with a time of 2:17.63 for 15th place. The Troy Christian High School graduate also garnered a 16th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle finals to collect 11 points for the Blue Knights.

Foster, a native of East Liverpool, Ohio, recorded a finals time of 2:30.47 for 17 points in the 200 breast. She also swam the second leg of the women's 400-yard relay team that posted a finals time of 3:59.68 for a 12th-place finish garnering 30 points. Ashlynn Miller was the opener with Magdaline Perry following Foster and Jaelle Lindon on the anchor leg.

Miller also competed in the women's 1650-yard freestyle and finished in 28th place with a time of 20:29.07.

Lindon competed in a second event on Saturday as she was one of two Blue Knights to compete in the preliminary round of the women's 100-yard freestyle discipline. Lindon's 59.69 time was good enough for 42nd while Mackenzie Miller's 1:09.49 notched her a 55th-place finish.
