KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Urbana University men's soccer had three players represented on the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Atlantic Region Teams, including
Jasminko Dizdarevic (first team),
Luke Nicholls (second team) and
Hass Gorji (second team).
The teams are selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions. Student-athletes earning First Team All-Region honors are now eligible to earn All-America status.
The All-America Teams for NCAA Division II will be announced on Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, while the NCAA Division I Men's All-America Team will be announced on Thursday evening, Dec. 12 in conjunction with their respective pre-championship banquets.
Dizdarevic, a senior from St. Charles, Ill., produced career-highs in all categories, leading the MEC in goals (13) and points (31) during the regular season. Dizdarevic recorded a career-high five assists and four game-winners while registering a point in 10 of 18 matches. He finished his career with the second-most goals in the school's DII era with 26. Dizdarevic was voted this year's Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year along with first-team all-conference and D2CCA First Team All-Region honors. He was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team, and will find out if he makes the D2CCA and USC All-American teams later this week.
Gorji, a graduate student from Birkenshaw, England, finished among the top-10 MEC leaders in goals (7), points (16) and shots on goal per game (1.4) in his first season with the Blue Knights. He recorded two assists and had a total of 26 shots on goal. Gorji produced a brace in a road win over Wheeling and also strung together a three-match goal streak later in the season. He was voted to the All-MEC First Team by the league's coaches.
Nicholls, a freshman from Manchester, England, had a stellar debut season with the Blue Knights, ranking 13th in the nation in most assists (9) and 17th in the nation in assists per game (.47). He also ranked among the top-10 conference leaders in goals (6) and points (21). Nicholls' produced a two-goal game in a home win over Davis & Elkins and a two-assist game in a home victory over Concord. He logged a point in 10 of 19 matches this season. Nicholls was also named to the All-MEC Second Team and MEC All-Freshman Team.
Urbana closed the 2019 season with an overall record of 10-6-3 for its fifth straight winning season. The Blue Knights also made their fifth consecutive trip to the MEC Tournament.
