Dizdarevic Selected CoSIDA Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas - Urbana University's Jasminko Dizdarevic has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He's one of nine midfielders to be awarded Academic All-America®.

Dizdarevic was voted this year's Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year along with first-team all-conference and all-region honors. He is also on the D2CCA All-American ballot with winners scheduled to be announced on Dec. 11.

The senior from St. Charles, Illinois produced a banner year with career-highs in all categories, leading the MEC in goals (13) and points (31) during the regular season. In a home win over West Liberty, Dizdarevic scored four goals and added an assist to earn MEC Player of the Week. It was just the fifth, four-goal game in conference history, and Dizdarevic became just the third player in league history to record nine points in a single match. The nine points were also tied for the most in a single game in NCAA Division II.

Additionally, Dizdarevic produced a career-high five assists and four game-winners while registering a point in 10 of 18 matches. He finished his career with the second-most goals in the school's DII era with 26.

Dizdarevic is the second UU men's soccer player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® recognition in three years. Former Blue Knight Thibaut Bourrier was selected a first-team recipient in 2017.

Twenty-five of the 33 members of the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer teams have at least a 3.80 GPA, with eight student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.

In addition to Zobott, the Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer teams have six repeat performers – Laki Prpa (University of Wisconsin-Parkside), Nen Overholt (Coloorado School of Mines), Yannik Felber (Franklin Pierce University), Alex VonHolle (University of Colorado Colorado Springs), Daniele De Angelis (Notre Dame College), and Dimitrios Topouzlis (Wilmington University) - from last year's CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division II Academic All-America® program.
