Horn Scores 23 in Narrow Defeat at Central State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Freshman Tehree Horn scored 23 points in Urbana University's 79-72 road setback against Central State University Tuesday night.

UU (1-3) overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to take the lead in the second half, but a pair of clutch shots by Central State (2-2) proved to be the difference.

Horn scored all 23, going 4 for 4 from three-point range, and only missed one shot in the second half to spearhead the comeback. He finished 8 of 11 from the field overall and 3 for 4 at the line with three rebounds.

Sophomore forward Kyle Kegley scored 11 points with six rebounds and senior point guard Jordan Bradley recorded 10 points with five assists. Senior forward Matt Ashley led with eight points in the first half and finished with nine as senior Mike Ryan also chipped in with eight points. Freshman Shaunn Monroe weathered an off-shooting night by grabbing five boards and dishing out three assists with four points.

Urbana tied the game at 56-56 on Horn's three with 9:50 remaining and then a Mario Lacy Jr. layup a minute later put the Blue Knights on top, 59-58. However, CSU center Michael Reeves answered both threats to keep the Marauders in front.

With 3:11 left, Kegley slammed a one-handed dunk on a fastbreak to get Urbana back within a point, 71-70. But, Central State got a big three followed by a drive-and-dish to Reeves for a layup to go up four with 52 seconds, and the Marauders held on with free throws at the end.

CSU's Keandre Graves had 17 points in 15 minutes off the bench, shooting a perfect 5 for 5 from beyond the arc including the final dagger three. Darweshi Hunter scored 16 points and Reeves had 12 points, eight boards and three blocks.

The Blue Knights led most of the way in a tightly contested first half as Monroe's layup near the 10-minute mark put UU ahead, 18-14. However, the Marauders stole the momentum leading into the break by closing the opening frame on a 15-4 run over the final seven minutes.

UU shot a season-high 46 percent overall knocked down nine 3-pointers. The Blue Knights held the advantage in turnovers (11-14) and the Marauders had the edge on the glass (32-29). Urbana scored 11 points off turnovers in the second half while surrendering none. CSU shot 56 percent overall, including 64 percent in the second half, while also making nine treys.

UP NEXT: Urbana visits Greene County again tomorrow night to take on Wright State University at the Nutter Center. The game will count as an exhibition for UU and tips off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
