BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Urbana's
Gianna DeCello is the Mountain East Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Arthur Assfeld is the Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
DeCello, a freshman from Hamilton, Ohio, was a triple winner in a dual meet against Notre Dame. She finished first in the 50 free (25.79), 100 free (56.58) and the 50 butterfly (27.64).
Assfeld, a junior from Toul, France, had three top times in a tri-meet over the weekend. He swam the 50 free in 21.41, and finished the 100 free in 47.40. He also posted a win in the 50 backstroke with a time in 24.42. All three times are the fastest in the MEC/GMAC so far this season.
