Blue Knights Race at the JennaStrong Fall Classic

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Urbana University men's and women's cross country teams ran in the JennaStrong Fall Classic Friday on the Wilmington College campus.

While the rain was much needed for the area, the courses took a beating as the women's 5-kilometer race featured 32 teams and the men's 8-kilometer race had another 36 squads.

Darshay Foster, who is a freshman from East Liverpool, Ohio, led the way for the Blue Knights women's team with a time of 22:39.9. Ashlynn Miller was the next Urbana runner to complete the course with a time of 25:43.4.

Madyson Stratton and Ash Lee Hummer finished at the same time (33:21.5) and Sheyenne Wilhelm rounded out the scoring for the Blue Knights with a 37:31.1. Emilee Skerbetz also finished for Coach Josh Lehman's squad.

Matt Hull, a graduate of North Olmsted High School, posted the best time for the Blue Knights men's team with a 34:20.9.

Isaiah Mitchell narrowly bested Jacob Voisinet by less than a second. Mitchell finished in a time of 35:34.9 while Voisinet notched a 35:35.7 time. David Gilbert, Daniel Quiroz, and Logan Griffith rounded out the list of Urbana runners.

Seth Farmer (24:36.5) of Shawnee State was the overall medalist for the men's race as he finished 0:19 ahead of Wright State's Nathan Dunn.

Ohio State's Julia Rizk had a closer finish ahead of Wright State's Shelby Nolan. Rizk finished with a time of 17:27.7 while Nolan was close behind with a 17:34.9.

UP NEXT: Both Urbana teams will return to action on Saturday, October 19 as they compete in the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College. The start time for the women's race will see an increase in distance from 5-kilometers to 6-kilometers to get ready for the postseason. The men's race will remain at an 8-kilometer distance.
