Urbana Wins Seventh Straight; Final Home Match Tomorrow

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University women's volleyball team extended its win streak to seven matches after a 3-1 victory over Shepherd Friday night in Grimes Center. UU won a close set in the opener 25-23 and Shepherd claimed the second frame, 25-21. Then, the Blue Knights cruised in the final two sets, 25-17 and 25-13.

Urbana improves to 16-11 overall and only needs one more victory over the final six matches to clinch the first UU winning record in 10 years during the regular season. UU also improved to 6-4 in Mountain East Conference play, remaining tied for fourth in the conference standings. A win tomorrow over Fairmont State would move UU to third place.

Junior outside hitter Katlynn Dunlap gathered a career-high 30 digs while posting a double-double (16 kills) to lead UU on Friday. It was her 11th double-double performance of the season as she ran her career digs total to 856.

Senior outside hitter Mikaela Beck recorded 19 kills and freshman Emilee Skerbetz (.579) recorded a career-high 12 kills to help the UU attack. The Blue Knights were efficient on swings with a combined team hitting percentage of .337 in four sets, which is a season-best in 10 league matches.

Freshman setter Alyssa Myers also put together a career-night with her fourth double-double effort. She had a career-best 53 assists with 11 digs and six kills.

Additionally, junior libero Maia Dunlap contributed 13 digs and five assists.

Urbana will host its final home match of the season tomorrow (Saturday) in the Grimes Center. First serve against Fairmont State is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET following the home UU football game.

The Blue Knights fell 3-1 to the Falcons on Sept. 30 (32-30, 10-25, 21-25, 21-25).
