Blue Knights Discard Falcons, 3-1; Eighth Straight Win for UU

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University volleyball team avenged a loss to Fairmont State earlier this season with a 3-1 triumph over the Fighting Falcons on Saturday.

UU claimed a narrow first set 28-26 and FSU evened the match by taking the second, 25-22. However, UU stepped up its play by moving past the visitors 25-16 and 25-21 in the final two frames.

With the victory, UU clinched its first winning record in 10 years (regular season) and extended its win streak to eight matches. It was also the final home match at Grimes Center, where the Blue Knights finished 10-5 this fall.

Urbana improved to 17-11 overall and moved into a third-place tie in the MEC standings with Tuesday's opponent, Notre Dame. The Blue Knights and Falcons will battle in South Euclid, Ohio on Tuesday with identical 7-4 conference records.
