Blue Knights Dull Arrows in Four Sets

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Hannah Delor had 20 kills and Anna Davis had a career-high 49 assists to lead Urbana past Ursuline 3-1 Friday night at The Jane & Lee Seidman Gymnasium.

UU won by set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 15-25 and 25-19. The Blue Knights improved to 3-5 on the season while the host Arrows remained winless at 0-8.

Delor reached 500 career kills on her final point, which came on a kill late in the fourth set. It only took the sophomore 41 matches to reach the milestone. She finished with a double-double Friday night with 15 digs.

The Blue Knights hit .238 overall including .343 in the second set. Anna Davis engineered the efficient attack as the junior setter recorded the 11th-most assists in a match during the school's D2 era.

Maggie Burns also reached double-digit kills with 13 while Lexi Reinert and Natalie Perez each logged eight. Courtney Niesen secured a team-high 19 digs while Jenna Franks added seven.

Ursuline was led by Victoria Henderson with 16 kills and 11 digs. The Arrows hit .195 overall with a match-high .455 hitting percentage in the third set.

In the opening set, UU trailed early but responded with a run to go up 8-4 following a Burns kill. The Blue Knights never trailed again as five players had at least two kills.

UU dominated the second set after racing out to a 10-3 advantage to dull the Arrows.

Then, Ursuline bounced back with a decisive 25-15 victory in set three; however, the Blue Knights restored momentum in the fourth set by building a six-point lead and closing out the match with a 9-2 run. Niesen recorded the match point on her second ace of the night.

UP NEXT: UU travels to Lake Erie College for a Saturday tri-match against the Storm and Pitt-Johnstown. The Blue Knights take on UPJ first with a 1 p.m. match.
