Blue Knights Light up Home Opener

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University Acrobatics & Tumbling team fell to Georgetown College, 173.495-130.625, in the Blue Knights' first ever official home meet Friday night.

With high hopes for the first home outing, the Blue Knights improved in several events since the last meeting against the Tigers. Most notably, the Compulsory event, which they landed a 23.75 out of 40.00 overall. In total of the four heats, the Blue Knights succeeded in outscoring the Tigers, 23.75-20.40.

Continuing a great start for the Blue Knights, they were able to secure another event win in Acro. The Blue Knights scored 8.70, 7.30, and 6.75 for a final score of 22.75. The total for the event was 22.75-22.05.

The Pyramid was another great event win by the Blue Knights. They defeated the Tigers in all three heats, scoring 8.45, 7.55, and 8.65. The total heat score was 23.15-24.65

At halftime, the score was 65.60-71.15 in favor of the Blue Knights.

Coming out of intermission, the Blue Knights, continuing the great performance hit a bump in the Toss event. The Blue Knights scored 8.2, 6.6, and 3.4. The total heat score was 21.25-18.20 and their first event loss of the night.

The last event that the Blue Knights would compete in during the night was tumbling. After a slow start in the first three heats, the Blue Knights scored a near perfect on the Aerial Pass thanks with a great performance by Sarah Calk. The Blue Knights ended up winning all six heats in the event. The total heat score was 41.275-35.375.

The Blue Knights would not compete in the team event, where Georgetown scored a 51.27.

UU will have a little more than two weeks off until their final home meet of the year against Davis & Elkins on April 8. That match will begin at 7 p.m. E.T.
