CANTON, Ohio -- Senior Dakota-Lewis Griggs led the way for Urbana on Day 1 of the 2019 Great Midwest/Mountain East Conference Swimming Championships. The second annual postseason event is hosted at C.T. Branin Natatorium Wednesday-Saturday.
Lewis-Griggs placed 20th in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 22.94. He shaved three hundredths'off his qualifying prelim time of 22.97 earlier in the day.
UU currently sits eighth out of 10 teams in the women's standings with 46 points. The Blue Knights are also eighth in the men's standings with 49 points.

Sophomore
Jaelle Lindon barely missed qualifying for the 50 Free finals with a 28th-place time of 26.38 in the prelim race. Senior
Holly Fisher also competed in the 50 Free prelim and recorded a time of 28.22 for 42nd place.
Also, junior
Ashlynn Miller and freshman
Magdaline Perry finished back-to-back in the 1000 Free prelim race. Miller ended up 33rd with a time of 12:09.10 while Perry placed 34th with a score of 12.16.18.
In the 200 medley relay, the Blue Knights finished seventh and earned All-MEC Third Team honors with a finals time of 1:59.62.
Jaybreona Foster teamed up with Fisher, Miller and Lindon in the event.

Joining Lewis-Griggs in the 50 Free prelims were
Matt Wheeler and
Nathan Hart. Wheeler was edged out of the finals with a 28th-place finish at 23.5, while Hart finished 31st with a time of 24.24.
Additionally,
Tomas Olivos and Jacob Voisinet recorded back-to-back finishes in the 200 IM. Olivos was 28th with a time of 2.11.69 and Voisinet touched the wall at 2:12.07 in 29th place.
The men's 200 medley relay saw the Blue Knights finish eighth with a time of 1:40.72. The lineup featured Lewis-Griggs, Olivos, Voisinet and Wheeler.
