URBANA, Ohio – The Urbana University women's volleyball team cruised past Ohio Dominican in straight sets Tuesday night at the Grimes Center. The Blue Knights won 25-17, 25-13, 25-19.
UU improved to 15-9 overall following the non-conference win, gaining momentum for a pair of key league matches this weekend. ODU dropped to 3-24 on the season.
Hannah Delor led the Blue Knights with 13 kills and seven digs while
Hayley Delor racked up 31 assists in her first start at setter.
Lexi Reinert had seven kills and three others had five kills including
Maggie Burns,
Natalie Perez and
Kaitlin Trace.
Courtney Niesen secured a team-high 21 digs as
Jenna Franks chipped in with seven.
Ohio Dominican led 5-3 in the early going of the match, but Urbana rattled off four straight points to reclaim the lead off back-to-back kills from Trace and
Hannah Delor. The Blue Knights settled in after that and never trailed again in the match.
UU closed out the second frame with an 18-9 run and followed that up by building a 12-point advantage in the third.
Overall, the Blue Knights outhit the Panthers .206 to .021, and held a 51-39 advantage in digs.
