CHARLESTON, W. Va. --
Host Charleston put a lid on the basket Wednesday night as the Golden Eagles smothered Urbana 87-58 at Wehrle Arena.

For the second game in a row, UU (5-12, 3-10 MEC) grabbed the first lead as the visiting Blue Knights moved ahead 4-0 on an Ethan Snapp jumper in the opening minutes. However, the Blue Knights soon trailed and a pair of Charleston free throws made it a 15-point game with six minutes left in the first half.

UU went down 45-30 at halftime and never got back within single digits of the Golden Eagles, who shot nearly 70 percent over the first 20 minutes. The Blue Knights scored just nine points in the first 10 minutes of the second half and trailed by as much as 33 late in the contest.

Snapp led UU with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting with a pair of treys. Jordan Bradley notched 10 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Matt Treacy added nine points. Malik Jacobs chipped in with eight points and team-high five boards. The Blue Knights shot 41 percent overall and made just five three's on 15 attempts from beyond the arc.

Charleston (13-6, 8-5 MEC) featured six players with double digits in the scoring column, led by Josh Floyd with 19 points. The Golden Eagles shot 57 percent overall in the game and outscored UU 50-36 on points in the paint. UC also held a 35-26 advantage on the glass.

UU remains winless against the Golden Eagles in 18 all-time meetings between the two programs.
