Shooting Sports Hosting 3D Archery Tournament

Event for middle school/high school students set for Saturday, Feb. 3

URBANA, Ohio -- The Third Annual National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) 3D Archery Tournament, hosted by Urbana University Shooting Sports Club, will take place Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon inside the Warren G. Grimes Center.

Those invited and encouraged to compete include local middle school and high school students from Champaign County who currently participate in NASP programs as part of physical education courses.

The fee for entry and spectators is one canned-food item per person, which will be collected and donated to the Caring Kitchen food pantry. The Champaign County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited is sponsoring the event and assistance will be provided by Champaign County 4H Shooting Sports.

"Archery is a safe, lifelong sport and the Urbana Shooting Sports Club proudly supports area schools who participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program," said club director and coach Ken McCabe. "In addition to the tournament, we host NASP instructor training clinics, assist teachers in the classroom and help schools obtain and maintain their equipment.

Thank you Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Champaign County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited for funding the local NASP programs and for sponsoring our event."
