URBANA, Ohio — Urbana suffered a tough 81-79 loss against visiting Charleston Wednesday night as junior guard Ethan Snapp torched the nets for a career-high 36 points in the Grimes Center.

UU drops to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in Mountain East Conference action while UC improves to 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the MEC.

UU took an early lead with a layup by Jordan Bradley, however, with 8:27 left in the first half, UC's Keith Williams gave the visitors the lead which they held onto for the remainder of the game.

At halftime, UU trailed 40-34 and then came out of the break struggling on offense. The Golden Eagles took control while building an 18-point lead with under 10 minutes remaining.

Snapp helped lead the late surge and his free throws with 21 seconds left made it a one-point game, 79-78. UC made both freebies on the other end and then Zach Bates cut the deficit back to two, 81-79, with 10 seconds. The Golden Eagles left the door open when they missed both free throws on their final possession, but UU's desperation shot at the buzzer fell short.

The Blue Knights are 0-17 all-time against the Golden Eagles with the previous two meetings in Urbana coming down to the final whistle.
