UU Caps Play at Ashland Tournament

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Urbana women's volleyball team wrapped up its schedule at the Ashland University Tournament with a pair of close losses against non-conference opponents Lake Erie (3-1) and Truman (3-0).

The scores were:
UU captured the first set of the day against the Storm, 25-20, but then fell in three straight including a pair of two-point losses in the third and fourth stanzas - 17-25, 23-25 and 24-26.

In the afternoon match, UU challenged a tough Truman squad and fell in straight sets - 18-25, 5-21, 21-25.

Stat leaders:
Senior Katlynn Dunlap led the way in the opener with a double-double after posting a team-high 15 kills with 16 digs. Senior Aleese Butler chipped in nine kills and five blocks while freshman Courtney Niesen had a solid outing with eight kills and 10 digs. Freshmen Deandra Atwood and Anna Davis combined for 46 assists while senior Maia Dunlap collected a team-high 19 digs.

In the second match, Niesen led with seven kills and 12 digs while Katlynn (11) and Maia (14) Dunlap led the way defensively.

What's next:
Urbana returns to action next weekend at the MEC-PSAC Crossover Tournament in Charleston, West Virginia.
