Blue Knights Split Day 1 of Home Tournament

URBANA, Ohio -- The Urbana women's volleyball team (3-7) opened up its home schedule by defeating Roberts Wesleyan 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-18) and falling to Gannon by the same margin (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) at the 2017 UU Invitational inside the Warren G. Grimes Center.

The first day of the UU Invitational included four matches with Saturday's action to feature five matchups among UU, Gannon, Lindenwood, Cal (Pa.) and Roberts Wesleyan.

Senior outside hitter Katlynn Dunlap led the Blue Knights in both matches Friday, which included 14 kills against Roberts Wesleyan (0-12) in the tournament opener and 12 kills with 10 digs against Gannon (8-2).

UU hit .274 overall as a team in the early victory and produced 11 service aces. In the second match, Gannon made its presence felt by totaling 11 blocks and limiting UU to just .030 hitting percentage.

Up next:
UU will wrap its home tournament with a pair of matches tomorrow against Cal (Pa.) and Lindenwood.
