Blue Knights Capture Road Win at Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W. Va. -- The Urbana women's volleyball team responded with a 3-1 win at Fairmont State Saturday following Friday night's five-set heartbreaking loss at Shepherd

UU stormed back for a 27-25 win to open the match before the two teams traded set wins. FSU cruised to a 25-13 win to even the match at 1-1 and then UU reclaimed the advantage with a 25-18 triumph in Set 3. The Blue Knights kept it rolling and fended off the Falcons with a narrow 25-23 win in the fourth.

UU improved to 17-14 overall and 9-4 against Mountain East Conference foes, moving into a four-way tie for second place in the conference standings. FSU dropped to 19-9 (9-4 MEC) on the season.

Junior Cecily Clark led the Blue Knights with 17 kills and senior Katlynn Dunlap posted a career-high 33 digs en route to a double-double with 15 kills. Freshman Kaitlin Trace added nine kills and five blocks, while senior Maia Dunlap and freshman Courtney Niesen both recorded double-digit digs. The Blue Knights totaled a season-high 92 digs.

FSU's Mackenzie Harrison registered a match-high 27 kills and gathered 21 digs to lead the host Falcons.

Both teams hit .222 overall in hitting percentage and combined for only six service aces.

UU hosts the final three matches of the regular season, starting with Tuesday night's contest against Notre Dame (OH). First serve in Grimes Center is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
