Falcons Use Second-Half Run to Get Past Urbana

Final Box Score

URBANA, Ohio - The nation's second leading scorer Will Vorhees put up 42 points to lead the Notre Dame Falcons past Urbana University men's basketball 96-75 Thursday night in Grimes Center.

The Blue Knights were down 47-43 at halftime and cut the deficit to one after the break, but that was as close as they would get after a gruesome 25-1 run by the Falcons.

With the loss, UU dropped to 8-9 overall and 3-8 against Mountain East Conference teams. NDC improved to 13-4 overall and 7-4 in league play.

Junior Carlas Jackson put up 15 points to lead the Blue Knights, who struggled from the field as a team by shooting 35 percent overall.

AJ Washington recorded his second-highest output this season with 13 points, while Jahmere Howze (11 points) and Ccharles Sweatt-Washington (12 points) contributed with double digits. Dalton Payton secured a team-high six boards.

The Falcons took advantage of their height advantage over the Knights with a 50-30 advantage on the glass. The visitors also out-scored UU 52-30 on points in the paint.

Vorhees (42 points, 9 rebounds), Kyauta Taylor (23 points), and Ja'Sean Lewis (12 points, 14 rebounds) led the way for Notre Dame College.

Urbana will return to conference action this weekend when it travels to No. 6 Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday afternoon.
