Blue Knights Earn Win No. 20 & Fourth Seed in MEC Tourney

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Urbana University volleyball team clinched the fourth seed in next week's Mountain East Conference Tournament following a 3-1 road victory at Glenville State on Saturday afternoon. UU also posted the best regular-season finish since 2006 with a 20-13 record.

The Blue Knights and Pioneers split the first two sets, each winning 25-18, before UU pulled out the final two frames 25-21 and 25-22.

With the win, UU improved to 20-13 overall and 10-6 against league opponents. The Blue Knights finish the regular season tied with West Liberty, but hold the tiebreaker. Both teams will square off in the MEC quarterfinals next Thursday. Glenville State finished the year with a 1-31 record.

Katlynn Dunlap and Mikaela Beck led the Blue Knights with 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Dunlap also recorded a double-double with 21 digs while sister Maia Dunlap also gathered 20 digs.

Setter Audrey Pumford had 43 assists and had three aces. Brianna Garber and Maia Dunlap each had three aces, as well. Molly Van Oss posted a team-high five blocks.

MEC Tournament Field Set for Nov. 17-19
Regular season champion Wheeling Jesuit will serve as the host for the eight-team event that starts on Thursday, Nov. 17, with the quarterfinals. The semifinals will be played on Friday, Nov. 18, with the championship being played on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The University of Charleston will be the second seed, followed by Fairmont State, Urbana and West Liberty. Concord is seeded sixth, Notre Dame is seventh and UVa-Wise is eighth. The Falcons defeated the Cavs earlier this season to earn the higher seed in the tiebreaker.
