Dunlap Records 1,000 Kill; Urbana Blows By NMU 3-1

URBANA, Ohio - Katlynn Dunlap recorded her 1,000 career kill in the first set of Friday night's volleyball match inside the Grimes Center, becoming the fourth Blue Knight in school history to reach the milestone, as the Blue Knights came from behind to defeat Northern Michigan, 3-1. Urbana dropped the first set 25-19, and then responded with winning scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 27-25.

UU improved to 9-10 overall to overcome a devastating loss earlier in the week. The Blue Knights return to league play next week with three matches. The Wildcats fell to 9-9 overall.

Dunlap led the way with 15 kills and eight digs. Mikaela Beck and Madison Davis also reached double-digit kills with 11 and 10, respectively. Audrey Pumford was a key substitute for the Blue Knights as she registered a career-high six service aces, including the set-winning ace during the second and fourth frames. Setter Alyssa Myers had 38 assists and libero Maia Dunlap returned to the lineup with eight digs.

Urbana hit .181 overall and limited the Wildcats to .148 hitting percentage. Madison Whitehead paced the visitors with 16 kills.

The Blue Knights will return to the Grimes Center court on Tuesday night against Charleston. That match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
