Urbana Conquers Concord, 3-1

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana volleyball team won its second straight match with a 3-1 triumph over Concord on Homecoming Saturday inside Grimes Center. UU wrapped up its five-match homestand with a 3-2 record and worked its way back to .500 on the year at 11-11 (4-4 MEC).

The two teams split the opening sets with UU taking the opener 25-15 and CU holding on 25-22 in the second. The Blue Knights trailed 20-13 in the second frame and fought back to make it close, but couldn't pull out the comeback at the end. UU cruised by the Mountain Lions during the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-11.

Mikaela Beck paced the Blue Knight attack with a .438 hitting percentage and 16 kills. She also posted her ninth double-double effort with 11 digs. Katlynn Dunlap and Maia Dunlap also posted 11 digs, while Katlynn recorded 11 kills.

Aleese Butler was impressive in the middle with eight kills on 10 attack opportunities, registering a hitting percentage of .800. Emilee Skerbetz posted seven kills, and Molly Van Oss and Madison Davis each had five.

The Blue Knights return to action for a midweek tri-match at Central State on Tuesday night. UU will take on Lake Erie at 6:30 p.m. and host Central State at 8 p.m.
