Blue Knights Overpower UVa-Wise in Straight Sets

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University women's volleyball team defeated UVa-Wise in straight sets (3-0) on Friday night in Grimes Center, 25-21, 25-16, and 25-16. With the win, UU improved to 10-11 and 3-4 against Mountain East Conference opponents.

Mikaela Beck led the way for the Blue and Grey with 16 kills and eight digs. Madison Davis and Katlynn Dunlap each posted six kills, while Maia Dunlap led the team in digs with 10.

The Blue Knights hit an impressive .304 during the match, including .444 hitting percentage in the final set. UU also hit .361 in the second frame and limited the visitors to an overall hitting percentage of .152.

UVa-Wise was led by Amanda Auxier (eight kills) and Karley Allen (seven kills).

Urbana quickly returns to action on Homecoming tomorrow with an early 9 a.m. match against Concord in Grimes.
