Blue Knights Fall to Charleston, 3-1

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana volleyball team couldn't overcome an early deficit and fell 3-1 to Charleston inside the Grimes Center on Tuesday night.

Urbana dropped to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in league play. Charleston remains unbeaten against Mountain East Conference opponents (6-0) and improved to 16-8 overall.

Katlynn Dunlap led the Blue Knights with 15 kills while Mikaela Beck posted 14. Emilee Skerbetz had eight kills, five blocks and two digs. Maia Dunlap and Audrey Pumford led the defensive effort with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Blue Knights hit .161 overall during the four-set match, while the visitors recorded a hitting percentage of .239.

Charleston took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17, then UU grabbed the third in decisive fashion 25-17. However, the Golden Eagles held on at the end to outlast the Blue Knights 25-22.

Urbana will host two home matches this weekend, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. against UVa-Wise and Saturday morning at 9 a.m. versus Concord.
