Blue Knights Suffer Home Loss in Conference Play

UU led at halftime for the sixth time this season

URBANA, Ohio – Freshman Jahmere Howze recorded his fourth double-double Thursday night, but it wasn't enough as the Urbana men's hoops team fell at home to Glenville State, 103-89.

Urbana (1-17, 0-13) led at halftime for the sixth time this season, and then surrendered 61 points in the second half as Glenville State shot 57 percent over the final 20 minutes.

Howze poured in his second-highest point total of the season with 27 points and collected 11 boards to lead the Blue Knights. The 6-foot-6 forward finished 9 of 13 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free-throw line, before fouling out with four minutes left.

Sophomore guard Carlas Jackson hit five 3-pointers and tallied 19 points with five assists. Senior forward Dimitri Abner scored 15 and senior guard Mike Newton added 14 points and five assists.

The Blue Knights shot 42 percent overall and were held to 33 percent from beyond the arc. GSC finished 55 percent from the floor and 46 percent from three-point range.

The Pioneers (7-12, 4-9) were led by Sedric Nady's 32 points on 5-of-7 shooting beyond the arc.

Thursday night's contest featured 10 lead changes and was tied on seven separate occasions.

UU led by five, 23-18, following an Aarmanni Garnett layup at the 8:30 mark in the first half, and then held on for a 43-42 halftime advantage.

GSC out-rebounded UU 37-31, while the Blue Knights only turned it over 14 times to the Pioneers' 19 miscues.

Urbana returns to action Saturday for "Youth Day" at Grimes Center. Tipoff at Grimes Center is slated for 4 p.m. ET.
