Blue Knights Drop Two Matches

CANTON, Ohio – The Tim Balice era got underway Friday for the Urbana women's volleyball program. Freshman Madison Davis recorded 16 kills in her debut and sophomore Aleese Butler added 15 as the Blue Knights dropped a pair of matches at the Hall of Fame City Challenge.

UU opened the season against host Malone and fell 25-23, 25-22, 25-20. Davis registered a team-high eight kills (.278). Butler and sophomore Katlynn Dunlap both posted six kills in the opener.

The Blue Knights received solid efforts from Tara Eades and Mary Hendricks, as each notched 12 assists.

In the nightcap, Edinboro escaped with a 27-25 win in the first set to claim momentum from Urbana. The Blue Knights went down 25-16 and 25-23 in the next two.

Butler led the Blue Knights in match number two with nine kills (.263). Davis posted eight more kills (.160) along with Dunlap who also knocked down eight kills (.133).

Hendricks came one assist shy from recording 20 helpers against Edinboro. Brianna Burkhalter led the Blue Knights with 10 digs in the second match after picking up 11 in the opener.
Urbana produced a total of 11 team blocks combined.

The Blue Knights bounce right back with two more matches on Saturday. UU takes on MEC foe Concord at 11:30 a.m. and will close out the tournament against NW Missouri State at 7 p.m.
