UU Goes Down in Three

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University volleyball team could not grab any traction against Fairmont State Friday night, as the visiting Falcons slid past the Blue Knights in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-20. Urbana falls to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in league play.

The Blue Knights will go for their first Mountain East Conference win tomorrow afternoon. UU will host Shepherd (6-7, 1-0 MEC) at 4 p.m. inside the Grimes Center, immediately following the UU home football game.

Freshman Madison Davis led the Blue Knights with nine kills, while posting four digs. Junior Mari King collected eight kills, including a service ace, along with 1.5 blocks. Sophomore Katlynn Dunlap finished with a season-low six kills in only two sets played.

Senior setter Mary Hendricks registered a double-double with 28 assists and 14 digs. She also put down two kills on six total attacks (.333).

Sophomore libero Maia Dunlap also reached double figures in the digs column with 10.

Fairmont State controlled the match in the first two sets, which featured only two lead changes.

UU showed some life in the final set, forcing three lead changes and tying the score six times, but the Falcons kept the momentum gained early on.

The Blue Knights gave up eight points on service errors and totaled two blocks on the night.
