Bryan Bastuba

Bryan Bastuba enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Blue Knight volleyball program in 2016-17.

Bastuba, a Columbus area native, joined UU in 2015 after coaching stints at both the high school and club levels. He took over as head coach of the varsity girl's volleyball team at Grandview Heights High School in 2014 where he enjoyed immediate success. He led Grandview Heights to the program’s best record (15-9) in 16 years while appearing in the district semifinals. In addtion, three of his players were named all-district performers while also garnering all-league honors.

Bastuba has also coached for Mintonette Sports since 2012, providing assistance for all tiers. He was tasked with running practices and lessons, among many other duties, while coaching numerous NCAA Division I signees.

Bastuba graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and Spanish from Ohio Dominican in 2012.

“In the brief amount of time working with Bryan, I have found him to be a taskmaster with great organizational skills. His passion for the game is obvious and he is willing to put the work, time, and effort into lifting this program to new heights. Bryan will head up a lot of our recruiting efforts, as well as video and statistics. He will also be heavily involved with training and player development.”
