Urbana scored the first three points of the match and raced out to a 12-4 lead after a quick 5-0 run. Chavez recorded three straight points on back-to-back aces and a kill to force an AB timeout. The Battlers got back within five points but that was as close as they would get the rest of the set.

The second set started out back-and-forth with Urbana clinging to a three-point advantage at 15-12. However, Hafer's ace sparked a key 7-0 run, which also featured points from Matt Wheeler and Kurt Klamfoth, as the Blue Knights grabbed control of the match with a 2-0 lead.

After the host Battlers took the first point of the final set, Kent responded with a kill and the Blue Knights never trailed again.

Eran Shifris led Alderson Broaddus with 14 kills and four digs.

UP NEXT: Urbana returns home on Saturday to host a tri-match against Saint Xavier (IL) and Tusculum.
