WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – Tyra James finished one assist shy of a triple-double to carry Urbana University women's basketball past West Liberty 95-86 Wednesday night inside the ASRC.
James, who recorded a triple-double when these teams met in November, ended up with 26 points and a career-high 21 rebounds along with nine assists. The 21 boards were one shy of the school record held by Cindy Frere and it's only the fifth 20-rebound game in program history.
Urbana never trailed in the contest while improving to 11-6 (7-4 MEC) on the season.
Sylvia Hudson finished with 23 points and six boards, despite not playing in the second quarter due to foul trouble.
Kami McEldowney and
Bailey Draughn each scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Lexie Wright chipped in with seven points while
Weston Minnich grabbed eight boards with five points.
West Liberty (7-10, 3-8 MEC) was led by Taylor Johnson's 26 points and eight rebounds. Morgan Brunner finished with 20 points on 6-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc.
