Falcons Edge Blue Knights on Pair of Late Goals

URBANA, Ohio – The Urbana University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Fairmont State Wednesday at UU Stadium.

UU dropped to 1-4-0 (1-2-0 MEC) on the season while the FSU remained unbeaten in league play at 3-2-1 (2-0-1 MEC).

After a scoreless opening half, and majority of the second half going without a goal, the Falcons eventually broke through in the final eight minutes to pull out the victory.

Alyssa Garberich led the Blue Knights with two shots on goal and goalkeeper Hazel Sanz logged six saves. Alyssa Edwards, Kristen Dickison and Sophia Thomas each had a shot on frame, as well.
Dickison's shot hit off the cross bar and barely missed finding the back of the net.

FSU's Abigail Johnson scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute and Lacy Bryant flicked in another goal a few minutes later off an assist from Ari Christiansen.

The Falcons outshot the Blue Knights 14-10 overall in the match.

UP NEXT: UU travels to Wheeling for Sunday's 4 p.m. conference match against the Cardinals at Bishop Schmitt Field.
