CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Urbana fell 14-2 in the series opener against Lake Erie Saturday at V.A. Memorial Stadium. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon ET.
UU grabbed the first lead of the game with three hits in the opening frame, but Lake Erie countered with six in the home half. Robbie Guerrero hit a double off the center-field fence to plate
Griffin Stevens, who posted the first hit of the day for the Blue Knights.
Stevens and
Chase Carney led UU with two hits each.
Justin Drennen knocked in UU's second run with a sac fly in the sixth.
The Storm built a 10-1 advantage after four and cruised the rest of the way. Lake Erie out-hit UU 17-8, while adding a pair of runs in the fifth and eighth innings.
UU starter
Jackson Everman (0-3) was dealt the loss on the mound after surrendering eight earned runs in 4.1 frames. Guerrero,
Brett Bell and
Brandon McRae logged relief work.
For the Storm, senior ace Ryan LeMasters (2-0) struck out 11 batters in five innings to earn his second win. Jacob Lozinski led three Storm batters with three hits, going 3 for 5 with two doubles and four RBI.
