URBANA, Ohio – Urbana fell 75-60 to Fairmont State in Thursday's women's basketball action at the Grimes Center.

UU dropped to 2-17 overall and 2-13 in conference play, while FSU improved to 9-12 (6-9 MEC).

//  COACH McCLOSKEY QUOTE
"I think we just got complacent. We haven't had such a big lead like that going into the half, and so I think we're just not used to how to handle all that and it showed today. In the second half, we didn't do the same things that we were doing in the first. Give some credit to Fairmont, they played a great second half, but coach McDonald even said they didn't change anything, so it's a little frustrating to try and come up with an answer. But hopefully we learn from this, especially our younger girls, and to realize that in this conference you can't be complacent with the lead."

//  LEADERS
Sylvia Hudson led the Blue Knights with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Erin Morrow finished with 13 points, all in the first half. Additionally, Megan Beachy chipped in with seven points and Sa'Dera Johnson with six. Nikki Current dished out a team-high three assists.

FSU's Sierra Kotchman led all scorers with 30 points while Rachel Laskody recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards.

//  HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tale of two halves at the Grimes Center. UU never trailed during the opening two quarters and led by as much as 12 before taking a 39-28 lead into halftime.

The Blue Knights started 6 of 10 from the floor and scored at will by posting the first 16 points from the paint. Then, Hudson drained a 3-pointer to put the Blue Knights ahead 26-14 midway through the second. UU maintained course and grabbed its third halftime advantage of the season.

UU led by 13 early in the third; however, that diminished quickly when the Blue Knights shot only 25 percent (3-12) in the period while the Falcons couldn't miss with 10-of-12 (83%) shooting.

Ultimately, FSU outscored UU 29-9 in the quarter and the Blue Knights never recovered.

Both teams shot under 50 percent overall and the Blue Knights held a slight edge on the glass, 37-36. The Falcons took advantage at the charity stripe, making more free throws (15-22) than the Blue Knights attempted (8-14).
