URBANA, Ohio – Playing without leading scorer
Sylvia Hudson, the Urbana women's basketball team fell 100-51 Thursday night to visiting UVa-Wise at the Grimes Center.
UU drops to 3-20 overall and 3-16 in conference games while UVa-Wise moves to 13-12 (12-8 MEC).

Junior
Weston Minnich and freshman
Nikki Current led UU with 11 points each. Minnich also grabbed a team-high five rebounds and went 2 of 2 from three-point range.
Senior
Megan Beachy posted 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting and knocked down a trey. Three Blue Knights dished out two assists, including Current,
Erin Morrow and
Jada Love.
UVa-Wise had six players score double figures as Hanna Oliver, Cynita Webb and Ada Stanley each put up 14 points. Oliver also had five boards and five assists.
// HOW IT HAPPENED
UU built an early lead and remained out in front 10-6 on
Sa'Dera Johnson's free throw with seven minutes in the first quarter.
However, a Wise 3-pointer gave the Cavs a 19-17 lead with three minutes left and then the Cavs closed the quarter on a 13-3 run to lead 29-20.
The Wise run carried over to the second as the visitors outscored UU 13-0 to open the quarter. The Cavs shot 71 percent in the second period and limited UU to just 18 percent to build a 31-point halftime lead, 58-27.
The Blue Knights were outrebounded 49-27 and shot 28 percent overall for the game.
