Volleyball Caps Regular Season with Road Sweep

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Urbana women's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a convincing 25-18, 25-16, 25-11 win over Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon.

The win clinched at least a three-seed in the first round of the Mountain East Conference that will be hosted by Wheeling University next weekend.

Urbana (17-12, 12-4 MEC) blitzed out to leads of 9-2, 13-3, and 17-6 in the first set before Frostburg State clawed back to within 22-17 before the Blue Knights would tally three of the final four points.

The second set saw both teams punch and counterpunch, but in the end, it was Urbana that pulled out the 25-16 set win.

It was all Blue Knights in the third set as Kara Hellman's squad cruised to a 19-7 lead before closing out the set with back-to-back points from Hannah Delor with the first being a kill and the final point being a service ace, which was the ninth of the match for the team.

Four Blue Knights tallied double-digit kills with Delor leading the way with 14 followed closely behind Maggie Burns' 11 and ten each from Natalie Perez and Lexi Reinert.

Anna Davis dished out 37 assists and had six digs. Courtney Neisen led the way defensively with 19 digs.

Burns was the lone Blue Knight to collect a double-double as she collected 10 digs to go along with her 11 kills.

UP NEXT: The Blue Knights will compete in the first round of the MEC Tournament on Thursday, November 21 at Wheeling University against an opponent that has yet to be determined at the time of the posting of this recap.
