Blue Knights Secure Three Points on the Road

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – A penalty kick by Jasminko Dizdarevic in the 47th minute was all the Urbana University Blue Knights men's soccer team needed to win on the road at West Liberty University on Wednesday evening.

The senior from St. Charles, Ill., tacked on another goal in the 87th minute to put the match out of reach for the Hilltoppers and sealing the much-needed 2-0 victory for the Blue Knights to bounce back from consecutive ties against Notre Dame College and Concord University.

In a match that saw over 20 fouls called, it was a West Liberty foul inside the penalty box that setup Dizdarevic's heroics just minutes out of the halftime break.

Both teams combined for just one corner kick, but there were a combined 24 shots taken. Jakob Henriksen saw 13 shots come his way with just four on goal from the Hilltoppers (1-8-1, 1-7-1 MEC).

With the win, the Blue Knights (4-3-3, 4-2-2 MEC) added three more points to their season-long tally to remain as the much coveted fourth seed in the Mountain East Conference standings as only four schools will advance to the conference tournament.

UP NEXT: The men's soccer team will cap off a Homecoming doubleheader with the football team on Saturday, October 12. Fans are encouraged to stick around for the soccer match that kicks off at 6:30 p.m. against the Senators from Davis & Elkins College.
