Men's Soccer Plays to 3-3 Draw at Concord

BECKLEY, W. Va. – The Urbana University men's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw in double overtime against Concord Sunday afternoon at the Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex.

UU moved to 3-3-3 overall on the year and now stands at 3-2-2 in league play. Concord slides to 2-3-2 (1-3-2 MEC) on the season.

Urbana jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half with goals by Jasminko Dizdarevic, his seventh of the year, and Luke Nicholls (third). However, Concord cut the deficit to one in the 33rd minute as the teams went into the halftime break with Urbana leading, 2-1.

The second half turned into a shot fest as the two teams combined for 19 over the next 45 minutes.

Concord evened the match in the 64th minute, but UU's Hass Gorji tapped in a go-ahead score off a Nicholls assist 10 minutes later to put the Blue Knights up, 3-2.

However, the Mountain Lions climbed back again and responded with an equalizer in the 77th minute to force extra time.

Urbana outshot Concord 6-0 in the extra time, but couldn't find the game-winner. Gorji's last attempt clanged off the right post with under two minutes remaining.

Overall, the Blue Knights outshot the Mountain Lions, 26-15. Dizdarevic was credited with five shots on goal and Gorji had four.

UU keeper Jakob Henriksen finished with six saves in 110 minutes between the pipes.
