BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. ---
Urbana junior Khaliq Muhammad has been named Mountain East Conference Football Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, announced Monday by MEC headquarters. Muhammad shares the weekly honor with Concord kicker Luke Walls, while Notre Dame's Jaleel McLaughlin and Guam Lee were tabbed MEC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Muhammad, a junior transfer from Scottsdale Community College, shined bright in his Blue Knight debut and was the difference-maker in UU's 21-19 home win over West Liberty last Thursday at UU Stadium. He sparked the crowd with an 85-yard touchdown reception to put the Blue Knights ahead 7-0 in the first quarter and then returned a punt 83 yards to the house, the third-longest punt return in school history, to put UU ahead 14-0 in the second quarter.

McLaughlin is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a school-record 302 yards in his first collegiate game as Notre Dame knocked off No. 16 Shepherd, 35-33. McLaughlin's total was also the third-most in MEC history. The Marshville, N.C., native averaged 13.2 yards per carry and scored a pair of touchdowns, each covering more than 70 yards.

Lee, a sophomore linebacker from Farmington Hills, Mich., had a pair of key interceptions for Notre Dame to earn the league's Defensive Player of the Week honor. Both of Lee's picks came in the red zone to halt SU scoring chances. He was also in on nine tackles on the day (seven solo), including one for a loss.

Walls, a freshman from Richmond, Va., drilled the game-winning field goal from 40 yards out as time expired to give Concord the win over West Virginia Wesleyan. He was also 4-for-4 on PAT and made a 28-yard field goal earlier in the game.
