Marshall, a grad transfer from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, finished seventh on the team with 38 total tackles despite missing three games in 2019. He recorded a season-high 11 tackles in a key road win at West Virginia State. Prior to Urbana, Marshall played at Division I FCS McNeese State University.
"I'm blessed to get another opportunity to play the game I love at an elite level," Marshall said. "I know God has a plan for me, whether it's continuing my playing career or not, and I'm just taking one day at a time. I've had many obstacles thrown at me in life and it would've been easy to give up. I owe it to the people that believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself to go out on that field and give it everything I've got."
The FCS National Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top players from college football non-FBS schools. The rosters gives NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools. All 32 NFL teams receive and review the FCS Bowl film as the game and practice film are distributed directly by NFL Films.
Last season, over 30 scouts representing NFL and CFL teams attended the FCS National Bowl.
Marshall will wear No. 32 on the National Team and is one of nine linebackers currently listed on the roster.
"I want to keep playing and hope to earn an opportunity in professional football," Marshall stated. "I want to give people hope. My endgame after football is to start a non-profit organization that will support kids coming from poverty to discover their dreams and find their passions."
