Urbana Completes Sunday Soccer Sweep

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- The Urbana men's and women's soccer teams both recorded 2-1 victories at Shepherd during Sunday's Mountain East Conference action.

On the men's side, UU (8-5-0, 6-3-0 MEC) won its fourth straight and also its fourth overtime game of the season by outlasting the host Rams (0-13-1). The Blue Knights trailed 1-0 the majority of the game, despite holding a major advantage in shots (33-4) and corner kicks (17-4). Jake Wischmeier finally broke through for the equalizer in the 82nd minute, assisted by Nick Glasgow and Matt Wheeler. Then, UU secured the game-winner when Harry Tamplin converted a penalty kick in the first overtime period.

On the women's side, the Blue Knights (2-9-3, 2-8-3 MEC) earned a hard-fought win in similar fashion. Down 1-0 late, Macy Torres tied the game in the 82nd minute with her first goal of the season and then Kobi Bryant netted the game-winner just before the end of regulation off an assist by Bronté Flannery. Shepherd scored at the beginning of the second half for the 1-0 lead. UU keeper Katherine Beech finished with five saves between the pipes.
