Knights Drop Third Straight in Loss to Charleston

UU fell 116-96 against unbeaten UC Thursday night

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University men's basketball team fell 116-96 to undefeated Charleston on Thursday night in Grimes Center.

UU dropped to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in league play while UC improved to 6-0 and 3-0 against MEC teams.

Carlas Jackson and Jahmere Howze led the way with 21 points each as UU finished with a 49-percent shooting mark.

The Golden Eagles shot at a scorching 60-percent clip and were led by Elliot Cole (36 pts, 8 asts) and Shaq Speights (27 pts, 7 of 11 on three's).

The Blue Knights led early on and kept it close at halftime by trailing 54-47. But, the Blue and Grey couldn't get a stop when it needed it most down the stretch.

UU outscored UC in bench points (32-18) and points in the paint (42-34). The difference came from beyond the arc, where the Golden Eagles were 14 of 24 (58%).

Urbana returns to action Saturday for a road game at West Virginia State. The league showdown will start at approximately 4 p.m. ET.
