Jassen Dobyns, has been a long-standing member of the Urbana University athletic training staff since 2004. He serves as Head Athletic Trainer for the Urbana Blue Knights, overseeing football, swimming, softball, and all aspects of athletic training for the Urbana University’s NCAA Division II athletic teams.

Dobyns, a native of Springfield, Ohio and a graduate of Kenton Ridge High School, graduated from Wilmington College in 1996, with a bachelor’s of science degree in athletic training.   As an undergraduate, he covered a variety sports, and during his senior year interned with the Cincinnati Bengals during their 1995-1996 season.

After graduation from Wilmington College, Jassen returned back to his hometown to provide athletic training services for his alma mater Kenton Ridge High School under contracts with Community Hospital and Kettering Hospital from 1998-2004.  As one of the first athletic trainers for Kenton Ridge high school he helped establish athletic training facilities for Kenton Ridge, something he did not have access to as a former Cougar football player.Â
In 2004, Dobyns was offered an assistant athletic training position with Urbana University covering football, basketball, baseball, and other duties assigned by the head athletic trainer.  In 2006, he was offered the head athletic training position.

In the spring of 2009, Jassen received his master’s of education degree from Urbana University.Â
In addition to athletic training coverage, he has also served as an adjunct professor, coordinator, and director of the former athletic training education program.
Jassen resides in Springfield with his wife, Kelly, and two daughters.
