Dwight Evans will begin his first season with Urbana football in 2018 as the program's new linebackers coach.
Prior to Urbana, Evans spent three seasons as an assistant varsity football coach at his alma mater Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. There, he was responsible for assisting in training, coaching defense philosophies and helping with strength and conditioning.
Evans began his coaching career as defensive coordinator for the Sycamore freshman team in 2012 and held that position for three seasons. In 2014, he began working as an educational assistant at the high school where he helped coordinate instructional efforts with the teaching staff.
Evans completed a successful playing career at Tennessee Tech (Div. 1 FCS) where he was a three-year starter at linebacker and member of the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Championship squad. He appeared in every game for the Golden Eagles, compiling 160 total tackles and 22.5 tackles for loss.
At Sycamore, Dwight was a first-team Ohio All-State selection as a senior, posting 85 total tackles, including 65 solo stops, four sacks and one fumble recovery. He was named first-team All-Southwest Ohio and first-team All-Greater Miami Conference. As a junior, he was a second-team all-conference pick and honorable mention all-Southwest Ohio.
Evans graduated from TTU in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science.
