Chris Shanefelt joined the Urbana football staff last spring and will coach the running backs while assisting with day-to-day operations of the program.

Shanefelt brings experience from the Division I level where he interned the previous two seasons with Miami University football. With the RedHawks, Shanefelt gained hands-on experience in defense/special teams breakdown, recruiting, organizing practice drills and assisting with daily operations.

Prior to Miami, Shanefelt interned for the varsity football programs at Preble Shawnee High School in 2015 and Eaton High School in 2014.

The Eaton, Ohio native also brings leadership from his experiences off the field as a cancer survivor. He advocates for children and families facing serious illnesses as an ambassador with the A Kid Again organization. He also gives back his time as a Children's Medical Center Advocate.

Shanefelt graduated from Miami University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health.
